Tight abdomens really appeal to the female demographic, rather than the sneaky, cool guys of yore. With the emergence of a new image, so do the weapons at Bond’s disposal.
You would typically see a Walter PPK on the posters of every Bond movie made. In the Quantum of Solace poster, you see Bond in the traditional tuxedo wielding a submachine gun, which seems logical. A lone spy who goes up against more than a handful of henchmen is like the old school James Bond we know. The sheer number of villains would scare off any sane person; it’s just not possible for one man to face so many people with just a gun.
Years ago, the former Bond didn’t have much of a body to begin with. He wasn’t as massive as Daniel Craig, simply because they didn’t have the knowledge or technology to achieve such mass at the time. With the image that Craig presents to us, the audience, we see a physique that can truly achieve the feats that James Bond is known to do throughout his illustrious career.
