Army Wives – Lifetime’s Top TV Show

As the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan alienate thousands of men and women from their loved ones, Lifetime The TV series “Army Wives” seems to have struck a chord with viewers, whether military or mainstream.

When “Army Wives” debuted in June 2007, it garnered the largest audience for a first in Lifetime history and continued to draw excellent ratings for a relatively small cable network.

It was brought back for a second season from June 2008, and the first season is available on DVD.

The show features the lives of four army wives and a husband and how they deal with the stress of knowing their loved ones are in danger while fighting for their country overseas.

Strangely, the TV show was based on a non-fiction book by Tanya Biank, titled “Under The Sabers: The Unwritten Code of Army Wives.”
